HUMAN GEO BLOGS

Today in class we finished researching about Jared Diamond, so we started
to watch the documentary about him called Guns,
Germs, and Steel. There are 18 parts and we are on part 2 but they are
about 10 minutes each so it’s not that bad. I am also learning a lot. I learned
that Jared Diamond has a very unique voice for starters. It is deep yet pitchy
at times. He kind of has an accent, my guess is that from his traveling and
exploring he picked up a bit of an accent. That is just a guess. We watched how
they have a team of archeologists out
hunting for proof of early domestication and are busy uncovering a small
village. They say this village held about 50-70 people which was really
interesting. These people were at the peak of housing, and so their houses were
all built together and a rock doorway was the entrance to another families
house. But today was a good class.
Today in class we talked about who was staying
in Mr. Schick’s class for second semester, and who was leaving. I found out
that I Am moving out which is pretty sad, I’m going to miss my class. I’m
moving into Mr. Powell’s Western Civ. With Jules, Damon, Greg, and Hailey. We
got to part 5 in the video, and I learned that there are 140 plant eating
animals that Jared Diamond discovered, and out of those one hundred and forty,
there are only 14 that are domesticated.
