JARED DIAMOND
Jared Diamond is a scientist and an author and a professor at
USCA. Born in Boston to a Bessarabian Jewish family. He studies in the fields
of physiology, biophysics, ornithology, environmentalism, history, ecology, geography,
evolutionary biology, and anthropology. He has a Harvard education and a PHD in
philosophy and geography. Best known for The
Third Chimpanzee, Guns, Germs, and Steel, and Collapse; How Societies Choose to
fail or succeed. Has gone to Papua New Guinea to study ecology and birds. He wanted to study the birds in their natural
habitat. Wrote the book Guns, Germs, and steel.
Guns, Germs, and Steel.
Gun, Germs, and Steel was also written by Jared Diamond in
1997 and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and is a multi- million dollar best
seller. The book goes into explaining why Eurasians have conquered others. The book also traces humanity’s journey over
the last 13,000 years starting with the end of the last ice age to the twenty
first century. There was a documentary created, three hours long and filmed in
four continents, the video also includes bits from Jared Diamond himself. There
are also contributions from international historians, archeologists and
scientists. This book seems to be a great read that shows people the forces
that have helped to create the shaping of our world.
