Perspective Changing Video (Sudanese Civil War)

Today I was a bit late to class, during advisory Mrs. Murphy Dohn took us all too the cafeteria to buy us all some breakfast. One of the juniors was getting a cup of catsup, but accidentally spilled it all over my white shirt! It was all O.K. though! We went to the nurse and got a new shirt, and the nurse both wrote us notes of explanation as to why we were late to class. When I got to class we received our tests, and looked over them, I got 85% which isn’t bad at all! After we went over what we got wrong, Mr. Schick told us to pull out our notebooks and to prepare ourselves to take notes. We starting watching this video called “God got tired of us”. This film was about the Sudanese civil war, and how 86,000 boys fled together from their homeland, and traveled as one large group towards safety. Once their village was attacked they knew it was no longer safe for them. They walked 1,000 miles to a camp set up for them in Kenya. This 86,000 family of boys was named “the lost boys.” They had a wonderful three years at their camp in Kenya, but when the government and economy tumbled, they once again had to flee. These boys faced some of the most treacherous conditions yet. The lost boys survived lion attacks, army attacks, starvation, and drought. When they arrived at their new home in Europe, they were still breathing but just barely. They had been marching in the desert for weeks and weeks and weeks. They ate mud and drank each other’s urine, as a survival key ingredient. This really opened my mind to an entire new perspective as to why we really are so lucky!
